Business Roundtable advocates for policies to strengthen the employer-sponsored health benefits system, improve health care affordability and equity and expand retirement security for America’s employees and their families.
America’s employer-sponsored health benefits system is the foundation
of health care in the United States. Nearly half of Americans — 158
million — receive their health care through their employer. Business
Roundtable members provide health care coverage to tens of millions of
Americans and are deeply invested in the health and well-being of
American workers, their families and their communities.
Prioritizing Employee Mental Health
Employers play an important role in providing mental health and substance use disorder coverage and care. Ninety percent of employers provide employee assistance programs for mental health services and 86% provide mental health coverage. Business Roundtable recognizes that more needs to be done to promote mental health and access to services.
Stable and predictable policies that promote retirement security and economic growth help ensure a reasonable standard of living for retired Americans. Business Roundtable supports policies that strengthen retirement security, including tax policies that provide stable incentives for individuals to contribute to defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans. Business Roundtable also recognizes that millions of Americans depend on Social Security and Medicare and wants to ensure that these programs are strengthened for current and future retirees.
